What Is OLEV?
The aim of the Office For Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) is to promote the adoption of low emission vehicles. It is connected to both the UK Department of Transport and the UK Department of Trade, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.
What Is The OLEV Grant?
In 2010, the Office For Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) introduced grant funding for EV Charge Points. Grant funding was made available to encourage members of the public & businesses to switch to low emission vehicles. The grant is to help cover the costs involved in installing EV Charge Points. The OLEV Grant is currently available under the following three schemes:
- Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme
- Workplace Charge Point Scheme
- On-Street Residential Charge Point Scheme
Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme
The ‘Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme’ is a government grant, for EV Chargers, provided by the Office For Low Emission Vehicles. The aim of the grant is to encourage people to embrace electric cars. The grant is a contribution of up to 75% (max of £500) of the cost of a single point, home EV charger. This means we are able to install home EV Chargers at a discounted rate.
Workplace Charge Point Scheme
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle EV charge-points. This scheme is available to eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations. For commercial EV Chargers the grant allows up to the cost of £300 per charge point for up to a maximum of 20 chargers.
On-Street Residential Charge Point Scheme
The On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme provides grant funding for local authorities towards the cost of installing on-street residential charge points for plug-in electric vehicles.
Am I Eligible?
The OLEV Grant is available for most electric and plug-in hybrid cars. The manufacturer, as well as the installer of your chargepoint, need to be authorised by OLEV for a successful application. Applegarth is accredited by OLEV to install EV chargers under the OLEV grant scheme. We install EV charge points from some of the UK’s leading manufacturers such as Rolec, Zappi and EO. If you want to apply for the OLEV Grant you can do so using our OLEV application form.
